The Clackamas River
The Clackamas River runs about 85 miles from Olallie Butte to the it's confluence with the Willamette River near Portland. Forty seven of these river miles were classified as Wild and Scenic for their "outstandingly remarkable values" by the United States Congress. The Clackamas is well known by Oregonians for great rafting and fishing near Portland.

This is among the most popular rafting trips in Oregon due to it's proximity to Portland, great whitewater, ample camping, and pleasant scenery. Oregon 224 follows the river which makes it easy to scout rapids and do a shorter run.
For
those interested in whitewater, you'll put in just above the Three Lynx
Power Station. Powerhouse Rapid is half a mile below the power
station and followed by The Narrows, Roaring
River Rapid, and Hole-in-the-Wall. Once your reach the Fish
Creek Bridge, you can take out or go a little further to run Carter
Falls. This is a great rapid and should be scouted on the left.
You can take-out below Carter Falls or continue down river through Slingshot, Big Eddy, Rock n' Roll, and Toilet Bowl for some extra fun. AFter Toilet Bowl, the river is mostly Class II down to North Fork Reservoir.
Each May, the Clackamas River is the home of the Upper Clackamas River Festival. This is a weekend full of rafting classes, raft and kayak races, parties, a video premiers.
